Former Guildford betting shop to be turned into new restaurant The Sushi Co
It will feature a live sushi kitchen where customers can watch chefs make fresh food in minutes
A new restaurant is set to open in Guildford town centre this week.
The Sushi Co is launching its 38th store in the High Street, having completely refurbished the empty site - formerly a betting shop.
The new eatery will join the brand's other nearby branch located in East Grinstead, with two more stores expected to open soon in Egham and Redhill.

Up to 15 new jobs are being created as part of the Guildford opening. Through front of house and kitchen roles, the chefs will prepare Hosomaki, Uramaki, Nigiri, Sashimi, poke bowls, and hot dishes such as curries and gyozas, from 11am until late.
Offering delivery, click and collect and eat-in, The Sushi Co is growing fast, with plans to open six more venues this year.
Fans include TOWIE stars Junaid Ahmed, Jodie Wells and Lauren Goodger, Strictly Come Dancing’s Nikita Kanda, Love Island’s Indiyah, and Bollywood stars Jasmin Walia and Zack Knight.
Guildford Store Owner Varanand Reddy Sama, said: “No other high street sushi restaurants include Live Kitchens where you can see the food being prepared, it’s one of the reasons we’re so popular, as people really value fresh ingredients and kitchen skills when it comes to this cuisine.

To celebrate the opening, a public launch event will take place on Saturday (October 3). The event will start at 12pm with free sushi rolls and live Taiko drummers.
Guests will be able to take home sushi-themed balloons from a balloon twister as well as exclusive branded merchandise - and then enjoy a live DJ in the evening.
