The ASEAN-Korea Programme Management Team (AKPMT) plays a central role in ensuring the effective utilisation, management, and execution of projects funded by the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF). The AKPMT operates in accordance with ASEAN’s established project guidelines and procedures, including the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on Project Appraisal and Approval, the ASEAN Secretariat Financial and Administrative Rules and Procedures (AFARP), and the Guidelines on Closing ASEAN Cooperation Projects.
As part of its mandate, the AKPMT is responsible for reviewing project concept notes submitted by proponents from ASEAN and Korea, assisting in the development of full project proposals, facilitating communications between implementing agencies and relevant ASEAN Secretariat divisions, and tracking the appraisal and approval process. Additionally, the AKPMT monitors project implementation, reviews completion reports, and maintains a comprehensive database of AKCF-funded projects to ensure transparency and accountability. The AKPMT reports to the ASEAN-ROK Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) Working Group.
The AKPMT is composed of 11 members, which include nine Jakarta-based members stationed at the ASEAN Secretariat and two Seoul-based Programme Consultants working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of ROK. The ROK Mission to ASEAN and the ASEAN Country Coordinator for ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations provide advisory support to oversee AKPMT’s overall performance.

The operational costs of the AKPMT, including staffing, administrative expenses, and logistical support, are fully covered by the AKCF as part of its broader operational management. All financial and procurement processes follow ASEAN’s established financial regulations to ensure effective and transparent management. Through its structured and results-driven approach, the AKPMT plays a vital role in advancing ASEAN-Korea cooperation, strengthening project implementation, and maximising the impact of AKCF initiatives across the region.
