Questions.

BitRouter is an open-source LLM router that sits between your agent and model providers. It gives you one endpoint, then applies a routing policy you can inspect and change across models, providers, and reasoning levels.
A routing policy can keep routine steps on lower-cost models or reasoning levels and reserve stronger routes for work that needs them. Savings depend on your models, workload, prices, cache behavior, and policy — so BitRouter makes the decision trail and cost evidence inspectable rather than promising a universal percentage.
Yes. The routing core is licensed under Apache 2.0. You can inspect it, fork it, self-host it, and keep routing policy in files you review with the rest of your code.
BitRouter exposes an OpenAI-compatible endpoint and integration guides for common coding agents. You point the harness at BitRouter and choose a model or policy route; the exact environment variables depend on the harness.
Cloud runs the same open-source routing engine as a managed service. It adds the hosted endpoint, a managed provider network, consolidated billing, and hosted request receipts. Self-hosting remains available when you want to run the router in your own infrastructure.
