STORY.

Hi!

I'm Linda

Every day, I walk my dogs, Midge and Rupert (also known as Muffin & Sir Grumps-a-Lot).

Winter, spring, summer, and fall, we’re out there exploring our Waldo and Brookside streets (we’re right on the border, over by the Y).

These pups? They sniff. Everything. A lot. Every 5 feet. Or less! Which leaves me with plenty of time to just… (gesticulates wildly about) look around.

During these sniff breaks, I started noticing little things about the houses I was walking by. A sign, a garden, a flag, a gnome… But there was never really anyone around to give a shout to and say, “Hey, I like your…!”

SIDE NOTE: I’m told that not everyone likes to compliment strangers. So maybe this instinct of mine is weird. Or maybe women over 40 will talk to anyone. Or maybe, despite what our parents might have taught us, we’d all be a little happier if we talked to the strangers in our lives. Check out Nicholas Epley’s A Little More Social.

Anyway! One day it came to me: I couldn’t talk to the neighbors who weren’t home or were working inside. But I could leave a note… a Real Life Like!

So I made it happen. I made the notes, I left one for you, and here you are, reading about how it ended up in your yard.

See you around the neighborhood!

OKAY...

BUT IS THIS WEIRD?

A few things crossed my mind when I came up with this idea. Including, is this weird?!

So I asked a bunch of folks and they all said the following:

I hope not! And the folks I asks all thought no. These notes are meant to be sweet and almost anonymous, so I hope you see them that way.

Great! I love getting to know my neighbors. Send me an email!

Heck yes! I made you a printable. Or, if you’d rather have the pretty ones, you can get those here.

How cool would it be to have a flock of Likes in your yard instead of on a screen?!
